As the Bible says, the voices of the Prophets are measured by the Prophets and yet even the Lord warns HIS people about false prophets in the last days using HIS name, when HE did not tell them to speak. I know Kim Clement, who people call a Prophet, spoke a Word three years ago, that it was done by Thanksgiving 2009 and then one year later said again it was NOW. I guess truth has been seen there. May we always remember to PROVE all things, I Thess.5

Yes, but remember Paul said "we all see in part and prophecy in part." Some of the OT prophets saw things that were not to happen for hundreds of years. They spoke and recorded them, and likely expected them to come to pass soon ... certainly others seem to have in several cases. Did that make them false prophets? No, the word was accurate, even if the interpretation of the word may have been less than accurate.

Like it or not, prophecy is always subject to interpretation. Even if it SEEMS specific, it may be misinterpreted. God may say soon, but to God a day is as 1000 years, so soon could be a month, a year, or 100 years from now ... Likewise God sometimes calls things as they will be, or are called to be, not as they are. He will reach into the future and proclaim destiny at times. A good example, my wife and I were in a meeting with a well known prophetic voice. He called a person up and began to prophecy. Everyone who knew the person was saying inside, "he blew that one big time." Well the prophet then launched right into a teaching about how God proclaims destiny, purpose and calling, not what things are like today. Needless to say a lot of people caught it between the eyes. Just saying we need to be careful how we interpret and judge.

I agree with all you said my friend. I have been in the Word of God 39 years. BUT, when someone says NOW, that surely is not the future or a time to be. If God prophesies through a servant, it will be spoken that is shall COME TO PASS. Jeremiah warned us in ch.14 about such prophets who prophesied in the name of God, yet God said, HE never spoke to them to speak. Jesus always spoke of the Prophets of Old saying, they SPOKE OF ME, for I AM. I was only saying, that IF someone is going to speak or prophesy and say NOW, then that is NOT future. If I speak a prophetic word by the Manifestation of the Spirit--I Cor.12 and I say, the Spirit of the Lord has spoken that in your life this shall come to pass, be patient therefore and wait. Then so be it. Yet IF I say to you, The Spirit of the Lord has spoken that NOW is the time, then it better be NOW or I have erred and shall be judged by the Word spoken. Too many people today just take the words of men for granted without measuring such by the Word of God, which is in err. God bless

"Now" can relate so a time period, or a moment in time. There is a difference.

Having said that, we must understand that the NT prophet is under the same NT grace that everybody else is who belongs to God, because the Holy Spirit has been given to all, unlike the OT with the old covenant where only certain people had the Spirit of God rest upon them and they were under LAW....people sought these certain people out for answers.

Today we can go boldly before the throne of grace for ourselves and more often than not, we hear God's prophets confirming what he has told us ourselves.

Today's prophets aren't 100% infallible, though they should have a high-level of accuracy. Sometimes they DO miss it, though.

Yes they surely do! And if they are false prophets, their time of judgement will come.

Good point PP ... but also balance that with John 21:25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

You can also look at the writings of the Apostles there are numerous references to prophesying and contemporary prophets... and Jesus Himself said we would do greater things. Paul says in 1 Cor 14 ... that we should desire spiritual gifts, especially prophecy, that when we do so we comfort people, edify people and the church, that it as sign to and convicts the unbeliever.

I don't want to get into a debate about whether the gifts ceased with the death of the apostles or not, this isn't the place, but I will call all to be good Bereans and search the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
