Rouhani: Caspian Sea agreement thwarted US and NATO plot

, Iranian President Hassan Rowhani announced that the signing of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea foiled plans of the United States and NATO NATO to send military forces to the region.
Rowhani noted the great security gains that resulted from the recent agreement between the Caspian Sea states, explaining that there was a conspiracy by the United States and NATO lies in the presence of their troops and the mobilization of ships and helicopters and military bases in the region.
"However, the agreement included the prohibition of the establishment of military bases and the presence of foreign ships in this sea, and accordingly, any foreign vessel wanted to sail to raise the flag of one of the five States overlooking it."
