Iran sues the United States before the International Court of Justice

raised Iran suit against the United States before the International Court of Justice , which said that the imposition of US sanctions on Tehran is a violation of a bilateral treaty between the two countries, signed in 1955

and demanding the Iranian case the United States to lift sanctions temporarily until the settlement of the controversy by the court.

The United States is expected to appeal to the court over the Iranian case and will insist that the case is not within the jurisdiction of the court.

The court has yet to set a date for judicial proceedings in the case.

The United States announced the re-imposition of sanctions on Iran as it withdrew from the agreement on Iran's nuclear program, reached in July 2015.
