Since we're all sitting around with worm-on-tongue (baited breath.. get it??) why don't we have a little fun and see where we are thinking the rate will be.

I might be off on some rates, but I tried to hit on a few of the ranges.

Looks to me like a rate.....1200 IQD = 1 USD and they are saying.. after the change it will cost them 1 dinar 200 fils to buy 1200 dinar...this works out to about 85 cents USD to buy one dinar
....and the last line i love...once the GOI approves it the RV will happen FAST...]...throw the LOP out of the window NO NO LOP....IMO this is a minimum rate.. .(THIS IS MINIMUM RATE, IT WILL GO UP FROM THE R.V.DATE, AS IRAQ IS USING THE USD, THEY WILL KEEP THE RATE CLOSE TO 1 TO 1 AS A START)

I am sure that many people who are more qualified will likely have a different opinion than me . I have thought about this alot and feel from a business perspective that they will have a difficult time explainting this to literate people let alone illiterate. This leads me to beleive they will be on a one to one basis in country for a time and then raise it , on the back side as the cost of goods goes down , I think they will have a higher out of country rate as they need it for purchasing power. Realize that I am just guessing and may be completely full of it. The money has two values anyways as in country and out of country , just as all currencys Do ! Time will tell!

Shabibi said that the IQD will be within 50 cents of the KWD and it that it will also be the highest currency in the region. That should put an end to the 85 cent theory.

I will be ecstatic if it is over 3.9, but any rate will do.

..What we all sweated was the lop, and even with that we were likely to make a little profit.

Now that the lop issue has been settled, most any number will be a life changing event for us.

I hope we are all able to keep in perspective just how unique this opportunity is!

Whatever the rate is can't be controlled by us anyway and will be what it is. I just want the rv to happen. That has to happen before rates even matter. I'll be happy with whatever the rate is as long as we can just get the rv to actually happen.

We have zero control over the rate so it's a complete waste of your time. Get out your calculators and guess how much money you'll have?

I believe $4.40...ever since they said the smart cards are being loaded @ $4.40. I don't believe we will get less. Could be wrong but I hope not

I voted $3.68 because I feel it will be more in line with Kuwait. However, I saw an article that the Iraqi 2012 budget has a deficit of $32 trillion. Maybe that will help change the value to a higher rate. I will be thrilled with $5.25 to GBP!

I think a lot of us are going to be shocked at the rate. Remember what Shabbs said...Iraq can support to 12.00--given the country's vast mineral wealth and agriculture base, gas and oil is just the tip of the iceberg. I'm going with a rate between 6.00 and 6.45.

this analytical youngster had a vision of $6.03 a few months back. First thought it meant 6/03 for the RV date but now, due to my youth and it being 9/11, believe it to be the rate I should expect. Goo-goo RV! (Binkies are getting expensive you know)

Okay...I voted for $4.40. Here is why:

1) It was reported the other day from a Arab source (I believe Saudi Arabia) that the Iraq Dinar would be the strongest currency in the Middle East when it RV'd. This can only be true if it is worth the most. Since Iraq rivals Saudi Arabia in Oil Reserves and have many more resources than Kuwait, the IQD must then be higher in value.

2) Kuwait recently revalued its own currency to 3.67. Soon after, it was broadcast that the Dinar would arrive online at $3.68. This would of course, make it the most valuable currency in the middle east.

3) Then about a week ago, Oki told us that Kuwait had revalued once again. (This can only be due to the GS) to $4.14.

4) With Kuwait at $4.14, the Iraqi Dinar must RV higher in order to be the strongest currency in the middle east, and thus your $4.40 number is closest to what it could RV at.

However, IF Kuwait did not actually RV upward again as per Okie, the $4.40 rate still wins, because last year the IMF ruled that the IQD could come out at not more than 20% higher than the Kuwaiti Dinar. $3.67 + 20% = $4.40.

But there is one more confirmation of the $4.40 rate: It was the rate (according to the White Hat person who is a signer of the GS) Iraq RV'd at inhouse on August 4. (A trick played by O'bummer)

So there you have it: Why I voted for $4.40.
And I see I am in very good company!

Wow, I can remember when I first got involved years ago and thinking just how incredible $.10 would be. What a ROI! Then I allowed my mind to creep up to $.30. Just insane! Then I began to do some heavier research and found that the lowest it could come out at(according to UN study in '09) was $1.13. Then all the RI/RV hype started and thus began the high $2's and low $3's. Crazy talk I'll tell you .... but I loved hearing it. Then 7 or 8 months ago TerryK came out with $8.21 and we knew he was out of his mind. Then Okie said we'd get our socks blown off. And shortly after that, all the hype died down and we were back down to Okies $4.40(which as you can tell he has walked away from that dramatically, merely saying "we will be pleased". Then the ridiculous $5.25 to GBP came out, catching the newbies dreaming of $8+. It was stated many many months ago that it will more than likely be within $.05 to $.10 of Kuwait but can't go higher than the KWD. So let's hope the KWD gets a bump at the same time, which would only help us as well as hope that they don't come out with a lowball 'bait rate' to catch everybody that plans on running to the bank the first second the rate hits the screens. At this point, to even guess at a rate is completely futile. Nobody has the slightest clue what it will be. I for one am just hoping they will cover their budget, mid $3's and perhaps a bit more for inflation but I feel sorry for all of these people that are thinkin' $5's, $6's and above. IMO they are setting themselves up for a huge disappointment. Better to dream low and be pleasantly surprised by a higher number than to dream too big and be severely bummed out. At this point it's much more important just to see this thing pop, so that we know what we're dealing with and to know that it's real. Then we can go on from there. BTW, never have I wanted to be soooooo wrong. I dream of $6+.

I believe it'll come out low at 1 to 1 or maybe just above $1. I'll be happy at $1.50exchange rate but will jump up for joy anything over $3!

Shabs has said himself that it's going to be an RV,not an RI; therefore, it will come out above the $3.22 that it was before the devaluation. Secondly, on the PTR call last week, Tony had a "boots on the ground" individual who reported that a local merchant had shown a contractor or military person a piece of paper written in Arabic from the Iraqi Government that required them to now pay $6 for each Iraqi Dinar's worth of product and were told "Ours is now worth more than yours." That leads me to believe that the rate here will be AT LEAST $6/Dinar, and probably more, since the out of country rate, historically, has been somewhat higher than that initially pre-released in-country on other RV's. That's why I voted for the $5.50 GBP, because that's the only choice that could get it up that high.

IF you have enough money that an investment of $1100 for a million dinar and it comes out at a 1:1 and it DOESN'T change your life, you really have TOO MUCH MONEY!!

I like reading these blasts from the past.  So many guru lies repeated in one post, it's actually kind of impressive.

The number of guru lies repeated in this entire thread is pretty amazing also.  Practically every post contains one or more, repeated as if they were 100% fact.
